ACCENT was first published back in 1993 when Atari 1040ST computers and Notator SL software were the shining lights of music technology in education. From 2000 to 2010 ACCENT was been published quarterly and aimed at helping educators keep up to date with integrating music and media technology into their teaching programs. Each issue included "how to" articles about utilising or planning various technology, new products and stories about how others are successfully working with music and media technology in education.

From 2003 through 2010 ACCENT was distributed to all schools in Australia with the Music In Action magazing (published by the Australia Music Association). Unfortunately, when the Music In Action magazine ceased publication we were unable to economically distribute ACCENT to 11,000 schools as in the past. This meant a rethink and ACCENT was put on hold after some 11 years of contuous publication.
